    The history of the SOCH dates back to the early ’70s when the bar first opened as The Heights just two years after the Stonewall riots in New York prompted the de facto beginning of the modern gay liberation movement.

    By 1983, and several name changes later, the Albuquerque Social Club was up and running.

    During its earlier years, the club was one of the few places in the city where gay men and women could gather and socialize while enjoying being “out” in a safe space.

    The Riverbend Hot Springs is a popular spot, offering a relaxing and inclusive environment.

  • Ruidoso: Nestled in the picturesque mountains of southern New Mexico, Ruidoso is a popular vacation spot. While it doesn't have specific gay bars, the area is generally inclusive and welcoming to lgbtq+Q+ visitors.
  • Farmington: In the northwest part of the state, Farmington has a growing lgbtq+Q+ community.

    The Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op is a community-oriented brewery that welcomes everyone, including lgbtq+Q+ individuals.

  • Arroyo Seco: Situated near Taos, Arroyo Seco is a charming village with a bohemian vibe. The Red Rock Park and Museum is a popular venue for lgbtq+Q+ events and gatherings.
  • Truth or Consequences: Known for its hot springs and wellness retreats, Truth or Consequences has a welcoming atmosphere for lgbtq+Q+ visitors.

    Same-sex marriage is legal statewide in New Mexico, as is adoption and access to fertility treatments for lesbian couples. The mixed list should have plenty of options for you and if there are no cute girls around to hit on head out until you finally get lucky.
